The Mountain Laurel Cookbook Since 1983, The Mountain Laurel, a little black and white tabloid newspaper has provided a format for sharing the stories and memories of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1985 it became the first publication to ever receive the Blue Ridge Heritage Award for its role in helping to preserve a vanishing way of life. Over the years mountain cooking has been a topic in almost every issue, as Editor, Susan Thigpen, and readers from all across America shared their favorite mountain recipes. This collection represents some of our favorites with everything from wild strawberry preserves to pinto bean pie. Of the more than 150 recipes contained in this collection, many have been handed down from generation to generation. We hope you will find new personal favorites from among these pages and continue this tradition by passing them on to your children. We invite you to put on your apron, stoke up the fire and step back to yesterday as you sample the delights of another time and place. $ 19.95 (includes shipping).
