Descendant of J. E. B. Stuart To Speak In Patrick County

On May 17, 1991, Colonel J. E. B. Stuart IV will be at the R.J. Reynolds Homestead in Critz, Virginia to give a speech on the legacy of the Confederate Calvary. On May 18, Colonel Stuart will be at the Edwards-Franklin House in Mount Airy, North Carolina as a guest of the Surry County Historic Society. On May 19, Stuart will be at the new Patrick County Historic Museum in Stuart, Virginia.

During his visit, Stuart will bring some of the personal belongings of General J. E. B. Stuart for display at the events. On June 15-16, [1991] the J.E.B. Stuart Birthplace Preservation Trust, Inc. will hold a reenactment at the birthplace site. This will include various activities including mock battle and drills of the Civil War. Stuart was born on in the Ararat Community of Patrick County and hopes to erect a monument and place interpretive displays on the land.
