What Gift Can I Give?

By Susan M. Thigpen © 1995

Issue: Winter, 1995

This holiday season is one of shared love and giving. The greatest gift is to give to total strangers in need. Here are a few suggestions to share your love this year:

If you knit or crochet, you probably have odds and ends of yarn leftover from projects. Use those leftovers to make toboggan hats and take them to your local clothes closet for small children who will really need them over the next few cold winter months.

At the grocery store, buy a couple of extra cans of fruit, soup, or vegetables and take them to your local food closet.

If you sew, get a pattern for newborn clothes. Make a few things and take them to the maternity ward of your local hospital for new parents that might have a hard time buying clothes for their new baby.

Your local churches or department of social services can tell you where you can send items.
