11/09/02 - Three brothers came to America from Germany in the late 1700s.  One of the sons, John WILF (my great great great grandfather) migrated to Edgefield, South Carolina where he raised a family. I understand he later left SC and went north to be near one of his brothers (possibly Ohio). One of the sons (my great great grandfather) was WILLIAM JACOB WILF, b. 1810. It is this lineage that I am working with.

My father often told me this story and that the original spelling of our name was WELF.  That name alone has been a stumbling block because of all the implications (it also served as a political name).  Can anyone be of any help to me in this family research? 10/10/02 - I am interested in finding anyone who is related to or doing research on the surname LEDNUM.  I know there are many Lednums in the eastern part of North Carolina (though I have never met any), and I wonder if we are related.  I am a descendant of THOMAS LEDNUM/LEDENHAM of Randolph or Guillford County,
and he or his children moved to Indiana around 1830.  I have no other record of Lednums in NC, but since I have found that there are others there, I'd love to hear from one -- especially if we can eventually find a connection!
My father was an only child, so I have few relatives and have only once met a Lednum outside my immediate family.  Any information or contacts would be appreciated! Thanks, Carolyn Lednum This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

6/25/02 - I am helping my friend try to find her mother. Her name is Donna Lynette Pennington/Goins. Her sister Vickie is also looking, but no one has found her in the four years we have been searching. Dorothy E. Trauber/Traughber lived in an orphanage in Annville, Ky. during her high school years. She married Kenneth O. Pennington, and when they divorced, he took the daughters after Dorothy had remarried. That is what Donna remembers. According to the information we got from him, they lived in Dayton, Ohio when they were divorced & that Dorothy married a man named Smith. We do not know that for a fact, since he has given two different spellings of Dorothy's last name. Donna thinks that her mother & her husband took the girls & moved to Kentucky & that her dad came & took them from her. He tells a different story. Light Artillery. He was married twice, Mary Smith and then to Eliza Jane Bell.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. He was my g-g-grandfather.
