By Susan M. Thigpen © 1983-2012

Issue: August, 1983

Gloeda Branscome sent us her mother's "receipt" for hot milk cake. She says, "She always served it with fresh fruit."

Rose Anna McPeak's Hot Milk Cake

2 eggs
1 cup flour (self rising) unsifted
1 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk (boiled with butter)

Beat eggs with sugar, add flour, stir into hot mixture. Bake in 9”x9" pan at 350 degrees until done.

(Mrs. McPeak lives in the Crooked Oak section of Carroll County, Virginia.)
