Front Cover photograph July 1990 edition. The ninth annual Blue Ridge Draft Horse and Mule Show will be held at Ferrum College's Blue Ridge Farm Museum, Ferrum, Virginia, on Saturday, July 28, 1990, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The show, one of the largest in the Mid-Atlantic region, will feature the major breeds of draft horses - Percherons, Belgians, Suffolks and Clysdales. More than 100 horses and mules from five states are expected. Separate rings will be used for halter classes and working classes. Working classes will include log skidding, a plowing contest, and an obstacle driving contest for carts and wagons. There also will be a driving contest with classes for carts, farm wagons and hitch wagons. The Blue Ridge Draft Horse and Mule Show offers a rare opportunity to see all of the breeds of the "gentle giants" at one show.

Admission to the show includes tours of the Blue Ridge Farm Museum, an 1800 German-American farmstead with costumed interpreters. Special traditional music programs, craft demonstrations, and sales will also be featured. Food and drink will be available on the grounds.

This is an event where the visitor can step back in time to the days of when "real horse power" was king on the farm.

The admission is $3 for adults and $2 for youths and seniors. Children under 6 years of age get in free.
