The Carroll County Historical Society will hold its July meeting on July 16th, 1984 at 7:30 at Gooch Harmon's Museum at Woodlawn, Virginia. Mr. Harmon is a merchant at Woodlawn and has an interest in history. He has established a private museum just to the rear of his discount store with a large collection of items of historical interest to this area.
The Historical Society welcomes any interested persons to attend. Membership applications will be available for anyone interested in joining.
For those who haven't visited the Harmon museum, by all means do. To think that one man managed to collect such a wide variety of mountain artifacts and memorabilia is astounding. Mr. Harmon is to be commended for his valuable contribution toward preserving our mountain heritage. The museum is located on US 58 in the back of Harmon Outlet Store, between Hillsville and Galax, Virginia.
