The Wilderness Road Regional Museum in Newbern, Virginia is having a "Deck The Halls" party on Saturday, November 24th and Sunday November 25, 1984. The hours will be from 2:00 til 5:00 on Saturday and 1:00 til 4:30 on Sunday.
A huge live Christmas tree will be decorated and the public is invited to bring handmade ornaments and place them on the tree. Music will probably be played on the old 1857 piano forte in the museum. Free refreshments will be offered to all and a display of miniature trains will be set up by Milton Brockmeyer, head of the Pulaski Miniature Railway Club. Old time transportation in general will also be presented.
A booth will be set up by Hannah Weschke with items for sale including live Christmas plants such as poinsettias and hand made holiday ornaments and figurines from Germany.
The museum is seeking donations to help buy a new refrigerator for the museum kitchen. If you would like to mail in contributions or bring them and place them on the tree, they would be greatly appreciated.
At present time, there is a lot of busy activity going on across the street from the museum also. The house there is going to be a doll museum and should be open to the public by the time of the "Deck The Halls" party.
This should be an enjoyable weekend outing for the whole family. Newbern is lively in summer and should be warm and cozy in winter like a Currier and Ives painting.
