Last week I was told of something I think is one of the best ideas I’ve heard of in a long time. Joyce Baker and her sister, Shirley, of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, originally came from a little community in North Carolina near Roanoke Rapids called Frog Level. Recently they received word from one of the people still residing in Frog Level that there is to be a community reunion this summer, stating the date and place.
They both hope to be able to attend, to see again the friends and neighbors they grew up with and went to school with. It was and probably still is, a small, close-knit community. What a wonderful opportunity to get together and reminisce.
Perhaps other communities would like to follow suit. In this busy, fast paced, impersonal world, what better way to slow it down, if only for a day?
If any communities would like to have reunions like this, The Mountain Laurel will donate free space to announce the time and place.
