Dear Readers,
This month we are very proud to tell you that The Mountain Laurel was presented The Blue Ridge Heritage Award by the Blue Ridge Institute of Ferrum College. This year there were two recipients; Janette Carter of the musical Carter Family and The Mountain Laurel.
It was presented March 23, 1987 in the Chapel at Ferrum College as a part of the Founder's Day celebrations.
This recognition belongs to each and every one of you who have shared your stories and memories. The honor belongs to the whole Mountain Laurel "family" of readers, writers and business sponsors. We appreciate every one of you. Your memories and stories are more than interesting, they are important.
The award is given for developing interest in the heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It will be displayed proudly in our office but the honor is shared equally with each of you.
