My mother was Louisa Etta (Marshall) Poore, daughter of William Jefferson and Cary Ann (Mabry) Marshall. The family lived near Laurel Fork, VA in Carroll County and she was the youngest of their six children, born April 15, 1899. She died in Mt. Airy, NC in 1939. Her three sisters were Belle, Cora and Susan. Etta and Cora both attended Normal School (I believe in Galax, VA) and both taught school at least two to four terms. I'd sure like to find out more about that Normal School and any schools they, especially Etta, taught at.

I would appreciate information on the family of Joe Newman. He was probably raised in Rockingham, Co., NC. I would like the parents names, birth and death dates. Names and birth dates of brothers and sisters, also who and when they married. Any information on the children of Joe and Sarah Ruth Rogers Newman (My great-grandparents) will be useful to me in tracing these ancestors. One daughter, Valerichia Jane married William Henry Gilbert (my grandparents).Grandmothers brothers and sisters were: William "Billie", Matt, Wence, Betty, Mary Tempie and Effie. I am interested in any information on all of these ancestors. I will exchange information.

Edith Cattrell was born in Virginia in 1770 according to the 1850 census in Posey County, Indiana where she was then living at the age of 80 with her grandson, Thomas Curtis. Also, Nellie Deub c. 1700 Virginia, mother of William Curtis, is a mystery to me.

They were my great-great-grandmothers and I wonder if anyone knows where they came from before they got to Virginia. Their families I mean.

I would like to have any information anyone might have about Clara Nellie Pouell, born in Barbourville, KY in 1903 or 1906. She married Cecil Viars from Brea, Kentucky. We have no records on her side of the family at all. We are doing a family research and would appreciate anything concerning this.
