7/4/04 - Good Morning from sunny Arizona! While it is 106 outside, I am inside on my computer tracing my family roots. I ran across an article about some old graves that were discovered by the Tye river. The article said that a Mrs. Ruth H. Blunt, a school teacher was able to solve the mystery as the grave stones belonged to her relatives Joseph Mays Sr., well, I happen to be related to this man, and am trying to determine if Mrs. Blunt is still alive. I decided that if she were she would be interested in genealogy and possibly a member of a local society. Would you be able to help me out? I do not have a phone number in Lynchburg for Mrs. Blunt, so hope I can locate her this way. Thanks for any help you can give me, Jolie Gilman, daughter of Frances Mays Benson, Oregon. His wife was Keziah Blanch Shively {sometimes known as "Tezza" and as Blanch T. Snead/Sneed she died in Beaver WV in Pinecrest Sanitarium in 1974. Their children were Agnes Ray Trent b 1899 md 1-Albert Johnston 2nd Henry Decker. Son {my grandfather} Evert {Everett} Pete Trent who md 1st Edna Georgia Bennett of Carter TN, and 2nd Helen Ruth Barnard. Pete and Edna had three sons, #1 "Dick" Richard Boyd Trent was born in 1928 in Glen Hendrix and md Marjorie Lee Lowe . #2 Charles W."Lucky" was born 1930 and md Shirley Fearson and # 3 my Dad "Tucker" Thomas Z. Charles Sr. though buried in Shady Springs ,his tombstone reads G. W. Trent husb. of Blanch ,and had his b as 1876 which is wrong. I have been told he may have re-married a lady called Mary ,but have found no proof. I have sent for B/D records in WV and they have nothing on him even though his marriage cert. says he was born {his M/law stated} in Wood WV. He was not! Some folks list his middle name as Wesley and we have found no real proof on that one. If anyone is familiar with "Dreama's site of Trent/Saunders family, on her site there is a photo of a Lena, Willie and Raymond Trent who looks like my dad.
If anyone lives near Shady Springs and has access to the funeral homes "Rose & ?" and Calfee & ??, could you please check there archived records for me. Also if anyone lives near Hinton, could you please check the Hinton Rail Road Museum in there records for Locomotive engineer's in the 1900's? Also I have a few web site with family in case you'd like to see photo's to see if anyone looks familiar.

grandparents on the farm when I was growing up.

I am wondering if any of your readers might have any information about a place called Green Mountain, VA? There are family stories about our relatives who were Cherokee who lived in a Cherokee community in Green Mountain, VA from the late 1800s until around 1940, but I can't seem to find any information about Cherokees living in VA. Any help or information you or your readers might have would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and best wishes to you and all your readers.
