In 1925, forty-five cents could buy a lot of insurance protection. Ivalien Hylton Belcher found the old insurance assessment form printed here. We thought it might be of interest to you genealogy buffs who have relatives from this area. It is a record of all money paid out in this area of Patrick County for the year 1925. For instance, if you happen to be a relative of Mrs. J. P. Stewart, I bet you never knew she had a piano that was damaged by fire in 1925. I thought it interesting that the President and Secretary/Treasurer both only received $300.00 between them in wages for the year. Did you notice the date on this assessment? You could be reading this paper exactly 58 years after the members of the Patrick County Farmers Mutual Insurance Company read their bills.
