Old–Fashioned Christmas Tree

By Mary Harper Sowell © 1988

Issue: December, 1988

I wish that you would trim for me
A real old-fashioned Christmas tree -
A tree like Granny used to trim -
And fill its branches to the brim

With stars crocheted from balls of twine
And garlands made of fragrant pine,
Red berries tied in bright bouquets
And popcorn strung in snowy leis.

And make a tinfoil Christmas star
To perch atop and shine afar.
I wish that everyone could see
My real old-fashioned Christmas tree.
